Bionicle G3 Idea - Part 2 by RRproAni Bionicle G3 Idea - Part 2 by RRproAni
Eyyyy, this is part two from my first Bionicle Generation 3 idea here: Bionicle G3 Idea.

Like I've explained before, my G3 designs are akin to the first generation, but they also have a few clothing accessories added to them. I guess it's fair enough to tell a bit of lore and backstory to these guys since it's been a few weeks. So these Toa actually haven't fallen from the sky this time around. They were born and raised on the island of Okoto. They become Toa through stones that have fallen out of the sky and chose them through destiny. The chosen Toa take these stones to the Great Mask Maker, Ekimu, at the City of Masks. Through a suva placed deep beneath the furnaces of the Great Forge, they are granted elemental powers that are imbued in them and their weapons.

One last thing, this is a head canon that I absolutely love, but I can't remember for my life who told it to me; if anyone remembers telling it to me please feel free to step forward so I can mention you. But Onua, instead of controlling just the earth, Onua controls plantlife. This just makes a whole lost of sense to me rather than having two Toa of rocks and just labeling one a different name. Anyways, here are the rest of the Toa, hope you enjoy!

P.S. Lewa is close to Gali's height, so you can go off of that to compare all the Toa's heights.

i am too making a Bionicle G3 Idea. it Take place after the Events of journey to one. the island of Okoto has Been shattered to different islands by a mysterious force. so the Toa are needed again. however this time the journey will be different. instead Looking of the elemental masks or the creature of the elements.. this time The Toa have to find a element temple in the respective islands and search for the legendary elemental weapons of Okoto. and find out this mysterious force and this time..  is not the master of shadows who is pulling the strings is something else then him.

You know, i never really thought of Onua having plant powers. I've always figured that plants were more of Lewa's thing since plants and air are very heavily tied together in the bionicle mythos.

Still an interesting concept though.

Hmm... Well, Stone is the sediment of earth, and also can be from cooled magma. I guess that it would be for stuff like the harder minerals of the world. Earth would be more along the lines of... I can't think of anything. Yeah, guess having him control plant-life might make some sense.

Please dude...just don't . if Lego was to make another bionicle reincarnation they'd probably make the theme end as fast as Gallidor did. Just let Bionicle stay dead , they deserve to rest without turning in their graves.

Uhmmm, how bout I say "no" to that? I love Bionicle and don't want it to die. No, I don't believe what I have will be picked up and I'm not sure I want it to. I make art for Bionicle no matter what and if other Bionicle fans want to make a G3, let them! It's their childhood! If you think I'm harming the franchise, okay, but seriously, I like my idea too much.

there is a saying: don't fix what isn't broken , that applies here as well . To me Bionicle didn't die since i still have it in my heart , but people like you think that when a franchise ends then all the fans and everything died, nobody even remembers how glorious it was , so all you do is just burry yourself in another alternate bionicle universe just to make yourself feel better and not let the end of both generations of Bionicle affect you.

You seem to be misunderstanding me. I myself think that the first half of G1 was great, the second half lost its spark and was just eh. G2 had promise, not good, but I liked it! I created this to have "FUN." Don't jump to conclusions, okay? I'm not someone you can complain to and expect that I change my mind so easily. (Also, Bionicle was plenty broken. It was not perfect)

well the first thing i can tell is that you were too lazy to write the last phrase without copy-pasting it from your reply to :icontrimondius01: , that already says enough about you. Well G2 had potential , but they didn't use it , they tried to make them appealing to kids they said , i bet they didn't ask the opinion of any kid when they made them.

Of course bionicle had it's flaws, nothing is perfect , but "not perfect" and "disaster" are very different things

That doesn't really help your argument. I'm frustrated with LEGO too, they seemed to put most of their money into Nexo Knights at the time, but I'm pretty sure most of the team who worked on g2 genuinely wanted to bring Bionicle back.

No way am I implying Bionicle is a "disaster," but I just wanted to make my own fixes and create my own alternate story. I'm not really seeing the problem here.

Howdy,

I like your whole idea about the Toa being raised and chosen as the new heroes of the island, instead of having them fall from space or Karda Nui or whatever with no idea of who they were and stuff. (Although I still prefer Mata-Nui rather than Okoto :P)

As for the design, I would really prefer seeing Onua and Pohatu standing up straight rather than slouching. Plus, Kopaka, Tahu and Lewa would need a bit more 'meat' in them because they look a bit too scrawny for my liking.

Anyway, what you have here is still amazing. I still love their design. Great job.

Greetings!

Thank you! I just went with Okoto since Mata-Nui in this universe is more like a demigod rather than a god, so while his name lives, the people wanted to keep land and person names separate in order not to cause any confusion.

Eh, I kept them slouching for a callback to the first gen. All three of those toa are like that mainly because I wanted to make another call back to the first year, while also keeping noticeable variety with their builds. Even then,  if I ever get around to designing their next year forms, they'd have more armor on them to make them look bulkier.

Once again, thank you! :)

These are some very impressive and characterful redesigns for the toa you have come up with. The story concepts are also quite nice. If I was a more motivated writer, I would totally consider sketching out a proof-of-concept story using these ideas (with you're permission of course).

So far, I mostly have the skeleton of the first few chapters. the first chapter would be a Turaga Vakama style narration introducing the setting and scenario, the next six would be introductions to each of the toa as matoran (as well as showing how each found their toa stones) and the next would show the six meeting at Ekimu's forge/temple and becoming toa proper. Other than that, it's mostly just conceptual character stuff, (Tahu would have been the original captain of the Ta-Koro guard with Jallar as his second in command, Onua would be a miner but also have a hobby of tending to an underground garden, Kopaka would be an outcast from the rest of the Ko-matoran due to the fact that he receives visions similar to Vakama in Legends of Metru-Nui, etc.) If I get any of the chapters done, I'll PM them to you to look over and comment on.

Very cool! Again, I love their different body types and the addition of cloth details, especially the fur on Kopaka's clothing. And I like that you have them growing up on the island, I feel like that makes them more relatable and interesting, since they'd already have relationships with other characters to build off of. It also makes me curious about what they looked like as villagers (are you still calling the people Matoran, or something else?).

For some reason, your design for Kopaka looks like a female body-shape to me. I don't know if that was intentional, but I do think a female Toa of Ice sounds really cool (no pun intended). The whole "five guys and one girl" thing always struck me as a bit odd, especially in G1 when they applied it to entire villages.

I like your idea about giving Onua control over plants, I think differentiating Earth from Stone is something that should have been done more from the beginning. Another possibility could be giving Lewa mastery of plants, and make Pohatu the Toa of Air, since G2 Pohatu seemed to have a bit of windy imagery, and sandstorms and dust devils make the wind very prominent in a desert environment.

Thank you! I'm still gonna call them matoran. Nah man, Kopaka's still a boy, though I've considered changing genders with him and a few other characters. I wouldn't mind viewing Kopaka as a girl for this!

Oh man, I actually thought of making Pohatu a Toa of Air before. In hindsight, that does make sense, maybe a little more time on the idea will help me decide on who gets what power. For now, I'll see Onua as big earth giant that loves nature. Thanks again!

You're welcome! I think Matoran is a good choice, I don't know if their species even had a name in G2.

I mean, you could always just say "they're robots, they don't even have gender," but it seems like in most stories that do that, all the "genderless" characters usually get treated as male (except for Steven Universe). Personally, whenever I think about how I would redo Bionicle, I usually cast Lewa as a woman, more as an homage to Breeze from Hero Factory than for any real reason. And I like that G2 had female protectors outside the Water village. But I super don't mean to be telling you what gender to make what characters, obviously it's your art so do it however you want.

Yeah, Onua as the nature-loving gentle giant is just perfect, no matter what element he's master of. Something I've always liked about Bionicle was how the Toa with the most raw physical strength was usually also the most gentle.

By the way, have you seen Moana? It reminded me more of Bionicle than I thought a Disney movie ever could, probably because they took cues from the same mythology, although obviously Moana stuck way closer to the source material.

I think the name they gave the inhabitants "Okotans?"

True, don't worry, you didn't come off as "SHAKE IT UP A BIT, FOR MATA NUI'S SAKE!" That's interesting, I saw a comment on my first part of these designs saying "Lewa looks like a girl." I noticed how gender neutral my designs come off as. XD

I actually imagine a scene (preface, Ekimu has a daughter) when Onua was a kid, he attended a meeting of the tribes with his mother, one of the leaders of the earth tribe. While the adults were talking, Onua entertained Ekimu's daughter. Teaching her things like asking the earth for favors and giving her a little flower as a gift. So cute. :3

I did see Moana! I tell yah, I couldn't stop thinking of Bionicle. True, Moana did feel more authentic.

Maybe. I honestly don't remember much of the story of G2.

Whew! I mean, I do kinda wish Bionicle had more major female characters (Toa, villains, etc.), but I was worried I was coming off as telling you how to make your art, which is absolutely not my intention.
Anyway, I can see why people would think your Lewa looks female, just because slender body types tend to look kind of androgynous, but to my eye Kopaka has a bit more of an "hourglass" shape, which is usually only done on female characters.

Aww, that sounds so cute! This is exactly why I liked your idea of having the Toa grow up on the island so much, it lets them have friends and families from before they became heroes, which makes for great characterization.
And that definitely sounds like exactly the kind of thing Onua would do. Ooh, and if he becomes the Toa of plants, you could do a neat callback thing where he later gives her another flower that he made grow with his powers.

Now I'm curious about how you envision families, children and growing up work for Matoran, since your designs for the Toa don't look quite organic enough to reproduce or age the same way humans do.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Moana actually stuck fairly close to real Polynesian mythology, while Bionicle just took a few thematic elements and then ran off in a different direction.

Yeah, perhaps another female Toa would do some good to the team. I'll think on it more... with Kopaka being a girl, I imagine Kopaka being more tsundere than before.
True true, I can see that. Don't worry about it, all's well.

Indeed, I thought it was a nice change.
Ooooh, that is a cute idea! Just imagining them meeting each other once again and catching up with each other is just adorable. Just Onua with kids in general is such a cute idea, he must love telling them stories and teaching them to respect the earth.

I remember a little Matoran Marriage deviation that I had a long time ago that sort of explains that two matoran create a little rock-egg together and that egg can feed off the energy of the parents before it grows into a small-babby-matoran. To add to that, the babies start out with more organic parts than they do metallic parts. Then I imagine that there are special matoran who create different armor parts and help shape out the mask to be more adult like. (And Toa armor is just changed through magic 'n stuff) Plus these families get to see their older family members more than usually, like great-grandparents and beyond, so I imagine some huts are big enough to fit a few generations.

Yeah, that's true, I mean, biomechanical beings aren't exactly a hero next to Maui and more. XD

With female Lewa, you'd have a girl who's energetic, carefree and kind of hot-headed, and if you take inspiration from the original comics she'd have a serious competitive streak too. Kind of a tomboy. Female Kopaka would give you a more calm and serious lady, who holds people at a distance and hides her more sensitive side, a classic ice queen type. Either one of those, I think, would contrast well with Gali's more caring and emotionally-open character.

Yes. Onua with kids is adorable. By the way, have you seen this deviation? I think you might really like it.

Do you envision them becoming Toa while they're still young, or when they're adults?

Huh, that's a neat way of doing it. I looked up your old deviation about it, you seem really worried about fans hating that idea but I think it sounds sweet! I assume the rock-egg doesn't physically grow bigger, it just gathers energy until it's ready to "hatch," otherwise the mother would end up with a baby-sized lump on her chest.
So the babies start out more organic? Interesting. Do the mechanical parts grow on them as they age, or do the mask-makers attach them?

Both are appropriate enough to be girls, in fact, I could just make both of them girls instead of choosing one. That would mean half the team are girls and half are boys. Hah, just think, if this were a tv show, you bet there would be a boys vs girls episode. Who's the better warrior?
Oh man, another idea popped into my head. With that episode idea in mind, maybe that's where they discover to fuse into Wairuha and Akamai? I was already on my way to making Wairuha a girl anyways, and looking at who are the boys (Onua, Tahu, and Pohatu) and who are the girls (Kopaka, Lewa, and Gali) this somehow all makes it more perfect for what I was starting.

I did! That was so cute! OuO I've always wanted to see the Toa interacting with the Okotan children. Too bad the series ended before we got to see any of it.

You know what, glad you asked that. In this generation, the Toa are all different ages, with Lewa the youngest and Onua the oldest. The general age range that the Toa would be in is: 16-Lewa, 18-Tahu, 19-Pohatu, 23-Gali, 27-Kopaka, and 35-Onua. This would be the ages they'd turn into Toa.

Ah, thanks, at the time I was a little worried seeing as I've seen some people not open to the idea of "romance" in Bionicle. Yeah, the rock-egg doesn't grow on the person. XD Yup, babies start out more organic. They start out with a small layer of skin covering their muscles, but as they grow, the skin becomes too small to fit over the muscles and the mask makers create armor to overlay some of the exposed places.

Ahhhh at long last!!  Kopaka's sword looks so coollllll (pun very much intended) and I really appreciate how much bulk Onua has, particularly in his legs!  I love Gali's scarf thing on her neck, I imagine it would make for some really stunning visuals underwater, with it flowing around.  Oh man is that the Three Virtues symbol in Kopaka's shield??  It could be just a coincidence but ayy it might not be

One more thing I gotta mention is how cool their names look with those white banners, wow.  It totally brings me back to the ascetic tribal look of the flash animations, which is such a neat little touch imho!  Oh man if only Journey to One were a show with this kind of visual.... it might have been something really special!
